It has happened so much in that area that now I usually test somewhere random AND test in Dawnstar when testing new mods as part of my standard testing regimen. I've listed the ones I can remember:ġ - Fast travelling to Dawnstar from Whiterun in a carriageĤ - Walking up to the Hunter camp just west of Helarchen (twice - one happened today, hard crash that even caused the Xbox to reboot, first and only time that's happened) Unfortunately overall the ctd's have been pretty random. Through all the latest testing to get from the 2 mods I started with to the 28 I have now I have only had two crashes (the one walking by the Inn and the hard crash/hard reset walking up to the hunters camp - as mentioned below). My current, stable list has all those loaded again except the Beasts mod. Its close enough you can see and hear it easily when in Dawnstar. Helarchen Creek - Arthmoor's new town modīeasts of Skyrim - adds a Dragon boss to be killed right on the coast just east of Dawnstar.

M.A.R.P.H.I.N - quest mod that adds a ship in the port just outside of Dawnstar Since I was experiencing ctd's in that area so often I took note of what mods I had loaded that affected the area and realized I had the following:īring out Your Dead - adds the Hall of the Dead This week I have tested other areas and when going to Dawnstar used the Arrived on a Ship - Dawnstar option to test in that area. For the first two weeks I started a new LaL game with the shipwreck option for each test so I did a lot of testing in Dawnstar and the surrounding area.
During all this testing I can easily say that the majority of the ctd's I experienced were in Dawnstar. I believe I have a stable list at the moment with 28 mods, that are mostly quest mods or mods to add or modify towns. I literally deleted everything, re-installed the game and started with only USSEP and LaL and started adding mods 3 at a time. Started with a very long list, tried to do testing to determine what was causing it (I had a methodology to the approach but no sense explaining that) but gave up. I have been trying to get rid of a chronic ctd problem since my son and I installed SSE and some mods.

You might even consider organizing the download folder to make it easier to find the mods in the future, especially the big monsters like Static Mesh Improvement Mod.I don't know if this will help or hurt the conversation. If you downloaded the mods using Mod Organizer, you should find the files in the ModOrganizer/Downloads folder so you won't have to download them again. If Solitude doesn't look good or you notice other issues, you need to back through the guide to make sure you've installed all the mods properly according to the instructions. Before running the scripts, DynDOLOD should be the last mod in the left pane and DynDOLOD.esp should be the last mod before Dual Sheath Redux Patch.esp in the right pane. If Solitude looks good, make sure you have installed the latest version of DynDOLOD, TESVEdit, and PapyrusUtil, delete DynDOLOD and the two mods you created when you ran DynDOLOD Textures and DynDOLOD Worlds, reinstall DynDOLOD, then generate DynDOLOD Textures and DynDOLOD Worlds again. Travel to Solitude and check the exterior and interior to make sure it looks good. Disable DynDOLOD and start a new game (do not use an existing save). just a shot in the dark, but you might try to narrow down the problem a little. I didn't think that would be the problem. I followed the STEP guide step by step the whole way, so I'm at a loss. It seems to be the area right where the exit from solitude down to the docks is supposed to be located.
There's a windmill blade spinning in the air attached to nothing, and a gap underneath it where you can fall through the map, but none of the NPCs or enterable buildings seem to have an issue. Navigate to the folder’s location in the File Explorer simply by opening a folder and clicking This PC or My Computer from the left navigation pane or by searching for this entry in the Start menu. The only issues I get when disabling it is the area right next to the market in solitude seems to be missing some massive meshes. I can't really think of anything else to do other than re-download all of STEP, which takes a LONG time for somebody stuck on rural DSL. I suppose, for now, I can just manually disable it whenever I need to be in Solitude and turn it back on the rest of the time. I'm running the recommended 1k and medium on everything, but I will try bumping that up and see if it fixes it.Įdit: No luck, it still just crashes directly to desktop if I get too close to the city.
